This isn’t the first time a prancing horse has nestled its way into the primo parking space you see here. A silver 612 Scaglietti usually occupies the spot. Perhaps the owner traded the nose heavy V12 Scaglietti in for this sportier, mid engine V8 Spyder. Or maybe he owns them both and was feeling a little saucy today, what with the nice weather and all. Or maybe it’s a different owner altogether and parking lot management simply makes a habit of putting the good stuff out front. Either way, we say thanks for positioning the car just prominently enough for all of us to drool over on our way to work each morning.

I spotted this larger than life Ferrari F40 in Monterey, after all the Pebble Beach fanfare had come to a close. Meant to serve as a tribute for the brand’s 40th anniversary, F40 was actually the last car commissioned by Enzo before his death in 1988. The slippery, Pininfarina-designed body, whose advanced aerodynamics helped it to become the first road legal production car to break the 200 MPH barrier, is every bit as captivating as it was back in 1987 when F40 debuted as the brand’s unabashed halo car. Yes, after more than 23 years, F40 still manages to look more exotic and progressive than many of today’s exotic sports cars. The owner of this beautiful example was a little squeamish when I approached, camera in hand. He wasn’t too interested in talking shop with me, which in my experience makes him a rare exception to the rule when it comes to owners of exotic, highly collectible cars like this. But I managed to fire off a few shots before the twin-turbo engine roared to life and peeled off, leaving only the sounds of a hand-built Italian V8 in its wake.

Flagler Drive Waterfront was packed with precious metal last weekend for Supercar Experience Palm Beach, also known as Supercar Weekend. The event series, which also includes tour stops in other well-to-do locations like New Orleans and The Hamptons, is a unique experience to say the least. After all, where on earth can you see this much horsepower, hand crafted coachwork and radar-touting cops in one place at one time. You can thank Florida-based sharp shooter and Man on the Move guest photographer Blake Simon for the exotic car porn to ensue after the jump.

In one day I have attended a Concours d’Elegance dedicated to Ferrari, enjoyed a CNBC Biography about the legacy of Enzo Ferrari and stumbled upon the high octane chase scene in Bad Boys II where Will Smith’s 575MM victoriously chases down gun-toting Jamaican drug dealers driving a stolen tractor trailer. All this media exposure, public attention and unbridled enthusiasm for a brand that has never aired a single advertisement. It seems there is something to these cars from Maranello. Something beyond horsepower, top speed and technological advances. Something that gives young boys goose-bumps and makes grown men cut checks for obscene amounts of money.

The Ferrari Club of America’s New England Region gave the people what they wanted on Sunday at the 5th Annual Festi di Ferrari Concours in Stamford, CT. In attendance were loads of Prancing Horses from the last 50 years – everything from a beautiful 1957 335 Sport Spyder to a menacing 2009 430 Scuderia. There was even a Fiat and Maserati thrown in for good measure.

Whether driving yourself or being driven, these opulent bruisers from AMG are likely the fastest way to get around Manhattan. Hell, they cost as much as a waterfront condo in Detroit and have more power than than a flippin Ferrari F430.If the base model doesn’t quite smoke your tires, there is an optional $7,000 AMG performance pack that includes unique 20-inch wheels, carbon fiber trim and, get this, the top speed of the car is raised from 155 mph to 185 mph. If you do the math, that works out to more than $230 for every additional mph. For all of our sake, we hope that package also includes lessons on how to drive a 4,600 pound, 518 hp luxury sedan at such high speeds.

Pictured here on 7th Avenue, this no-nonsense American exotic holds its own against Europe’s finest for considerably less coin. In fact, the only cars on the market to offer equal or better performance for the dollar are GM sister vehicles like Camaro SS and Cadillac CTS-V. This Blade Silver Metallic Z06 features a 7.0L V8 with 505 HP, a 75 pony boost from the standard Corvette. But beyond jump in power and displacement, the Z06 utilizes an alluminum chassis that is 136 pounds lighter than the steel set-up used in the base model. Coupled in with other weight savers like balsa wood/carbon fiber composite floors, magnesium alloy engine cradle and titanium alloy connecting, the roughly $73,000 Z06 weighs just 3,132 pounds (weight to power ratio of 6.2 pounds per hp). Not to say that spec sheets tell the whole story, but a nearly $188,000 Ferrari F430 features less power (483 HP) and weighs more (3,196 pounds). You simply can’t beat that grins per dollar proposition.
