Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible – West 23rd Street, NYC

July 29th, 2010 by Aaron

I found this 540 HP snake charmer tucked away in front of a Chelsea office building one sunny afternoon. The black and red hot rod almost looked guilty, as if it had been out speeding and doing smokey burnouts all afternoon. Or maybe the owner simply needed a parking space so he could run inside to grab something. Either way, I think we can all agree, this drop top ain’t a half bad way to get around town.

Garage Queens – Mustang Shelby GT500: East 26th St., NYC

January 27th, 2010 by Stu

This Torch Red, 540 horsepower pony car reincarnation was found nestled in between plebeian commuter cars in this Kipps Bay area garage. Considering what an absolute beast this thing is on the road it almost seems a shame to lock it up inside a concrete prison. Let’s hope the lucky owner exercises this baby as much as possible.

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 – DUMBO, Brooklyn

September 15th, 2009 by Austin

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500Say what you will about high-horsepower American sports cars but don’t even think about talking smack on Ford’s new GT500 or it will come and find you. The throwback pony car gets better for 2010 thanks to, among other things, fresh styling, a more evolved interior, considerably more power and a newfound level of handling prowess that puts most straight-line stereotypes to bed. Ford was good enough to loan us one for the weekend and, after more than 500 miles behind the Alcantara-lined steering wheel, all we can say is yeehaw.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport - West 46th Street, NYC

There are few things in this world that would get a sane New Yorker to Times Square in the early hours of a Friday morning. One of those things is a chance to get up close and personal with a 1,001 HP marvel of technology whose quad turbo W16 engine will violently thrust 4,400 pounds of aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber to 186 MPH before you can finish reading this sentence (about 16 seconds). Its maximum velocity, about 253 MPH, is equated to nearly one-third of the speed of sound at sea level.

Just another day in Manhattan. Well, not really. Even in the richest county in the country, it’s not everyday that you come across a $1.7 million dollar supercar capable of 253 MPH. This 16-cylinder, 1,001 HP stunner served as eye candy during the American Bugatti Club luncheon at Sardi’s, the famous Italian eatery and longtime theater district staple. Needless to say, the line of gawkers wrapped around the block.
