  • Is Toyota Working On A Prius Pickup? - January 11, 2011

    It’s no secret that Toyota will be expanding their Prius model line to include a five door minivan (the Prius V) and, eventually, a compact hatchback based on the Prius C shown at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. In the “truth is stranger than fiction” category, Pickup is reporting that Toyota could revive their A-BAT concept and stuff a hybrid drivetrain under the hood. The A-BAT (for Advanced Breakthrough Aero Truck) was shown at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, and featured a lightweight unibody construction and hybrid power train. It was quite a bit smaller than the current Toyota Tacoma, so the A-BAT would revive a long dormant segment of the truck world: the subcompact pickup truck.

If you are hard of hearing, you might not know that an electric car is heading your way as you step out into the street. Audi is working to prevent this, by incorporating an exterior sound system into its e-tron.

Ultra-light, the EX1 is and equipped with two electric motors—one on each axle—with peak output of 125 kW (250 kW / 340 bhp in total), and an immediately available constant maximum torque of 240 N·m (177 lb-ft) at the front and rear.

    We are now able to see via these photos the design, shape, and size of the mysterious Audi car from the Austrian ski jump. In a turn of events however, it does not appear to be another e-tron concept car. The high performance looking large alloy wheels and big brakes, as well as the traditional exhaust is not consistent with the e-tron concepts shown by Audi so far.

    The BMW subsidiary announced the MINI E Scooter Concept on its Facebook page along with some design sketches. “Ever seen a MINI on two wheels?” reads the description of the Facebook album. “Be the first to see an electric vision of the future as urban mobility by MINI takes a new direction. Keep your eyes open for the world premiere at the Paris Motor Show 2010.”

  • Nissan to Unveil Townpod EV Concept at Paris Show - September 9, 2010

    At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, which opens on 30 September, Nissan will lift the wraps off a new electric car concept called the Townpod. The Japanese automaker will release full details at the show but for now, all we have about the concept model is this cropped photo of the front headlamp and Nissan's claims that "it combines eye-catching design with a spacious and practical interior," and that " it heralds a new-era of flexible, stylish vehicles that will bring electric-vehicle mobility to the masses."

In the video, a Jeep intern learns a bit about the company's design process, all while hovering around a clay model of one very CUV-looking creation.
