Smart Fortwo Electric Drive – Old Fulton Street, (DUMBO) Brooklyn

June 9th, 2010 by Stu

SmartUSA invited us Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass to drive some early prototype versions of their Fortwo EV due out in January 2012. Outside of the pleasing electric whine coming from the motor positioned behind you, the little Fortwo Electric Drive performs much in the same darty, well-planted way that the gasoline version does despite the additional 308 pounds brought on by the batteries. And much like the gasoline version, people ooh and ahh at every intersection, red light, and attempt to park the little bugger. The green wheels and massive “Electric Drive” sticker weren’t exactly helping us fly below the radar.

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 – DUMBO, Brooklyn

September 15th, 2009 by Austin

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500Say what you will about high-horsepower American sports cars but don’t even think about talking smack on Ford’s new GT500 or it will come and find you. The throwback pony car gets better for 2010 thanks to, among other things, fresh styling, a more evolved interior, considerably more power and a newfound level of handling prowess that puts most straight-line stereotypes to bed. Up until that point, the badge designated a 2-door hardtop body configuration. This entry level full size sedan, essentially a de-contented sister vehicle to the upscale New Yorker, was meant to bridge the gap between Chrysler and Dodge when DeSoto went under.

Lotus Exige S 260 Sport – DUMBO, Brooklyn

July 28th, 2009 by Austin

Lotus Exige S 260 Sport

The Exige S 260 Sport has no power steering, will send shock waves through your spine and is harder to get into than the back stage area at a KISS concert. It also represents the most fun a person can have on 4 wheels short commuting to work via Indy car. If you can manage to squeeze into the scooped out carbon fiber racing seats, the view is nothing more than exposed structural elements, pedals that are spaced mere inches apart and an instrument panel consisting of 3 knobs.  Creature comforts include A/C, power windows and an Alpine stereo. If you need more, don’t buy a Lotus.
