New Product: Smart Expressions Vehicle Personlization Program

July 9th, 2010 by Stu

While Smart certainly wasn’t the first automotive brand to usher in a sense vehicle personalization, it was definitely among the first to offer people the ability to customize their rides from the factory thanks to innovations like removable body panels. Ducati even took a page from their play book when they started offering similar packages for their bread and butter Monster line of bikes. Well, the German microcar manufacturer is at it again, this time offering fortwo shoppers/owners the ability to color match paint chips (eat your heart out Porsche) and or decorate Fortwos with a host of colorful vehicle wraps. They call the whole thing the Smart Expressions program and it starts at $1,550 for the custom paint and $1,350 for a wrap. Take your pick at the Smart USA website.

Darth Vader's Chevy SSR – Kent Street, Williamsburg

May 26th, 2010 by Stu

The dark side is strong with this one. Black paint, matte black fenders, black wheels, black lamp lenses, black grille. Hell, even the Chevy symbol on the tailgate is blacked out. I might be jumping to conclusions here, but the owner is probably not the warm and cuddly type.

Nice spot Aaron!

Lamborghini Gallardo – Town of Bad Staffelstein, Bavaria

March 17th, 2010 by Stu

German tuning house CDC International is serious about adding flair to already wild exotics like the Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT and Lamborghini Gallardo. Wheels, body kits, high performance exhausts, engine upgrades…they do it all. Their latest and greatest product draws inspiration from Lamborghini’s Reventón, the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show stunner that featured a fighter jet-inspired carbon fiber body atop a “base” Murcielago LP640. The production run was limited to just 20 examples costing a cool $1.5mm each and the batch sold out before show models could even unveil the damn thing. For those of you who were too poor or too slow to grab one, CDC has designed this Reventon-look body kit (front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, and diffuser) for the Murcielago’s baby bro, the Gallardo. They appropriately refer to it as “a little Reventón”. Interested? The package will run you a cool $25K. Nothing little about that. CDC was good enough to photograph the final product for us, seen here posed against a randomly colorful recycling depot in the Town of Bad Staffelstein.

Thanks Mike!

Ford GT 720 Mirage – Eastbourne Terrace, Paddington

March 8th, 2010 by Stu

We really appreciate the pictures you send in after encountering cool rides from all over the globe. We really really appreciate it when those unique sightings include hyper exotic sports cars rocking bright orange paint and a 720 HP supercharged V8. Say hello to the Avro 720 Mirage, a special edition Ford GT from Brooklands-based tuning firm Avro Motorcars. The mad scientists from Avro worked with well the known American muscle manufacturers at Roush to engineer this beast. In addition to the orange metallic paint, matte-black details and laundry list of extreme performance upgrades, Avro added a whopping 170 HP (550 + 170 = 720!) and 127 lb-ft of torque (627 in all) to the already competent Ford V8. The net net is a 220 MPH top speed and enough forward thrust to recede your hair line a few years early. The best part – the production run is limited to just 10 cars. That’s right folks – sightings don’t get a whole lot rarer than this. Click here for a video I found on youtube of this actual car!

Great find Paul!

NY Cycle Show Wrap-Up – Javits Convention Center, NYC

February 8th, 2010 by Stu

This year’s New York Motorcycle Show may not have been all that significant from a new model introduction standpoint, but that doesn’t mean Javits wasn’t packed to the brim with eye candy. We already brought you some tastey shots of Confederate’s B120 Fighter and Wraith but Progressive Insurance also had a kick ass booth full of one-off choppers and other custom creations. Equally cool was the Sucker Punch Sally and Campagna T-Rex displays. Hell, Ducati even put on a little fashion show to highlight their new Multistrada and line of motorcycle-inspired apparel.  Check out all the goodies after the jump.
