All snowed in – Teaneck, NJ

February 10th, 2010 by Stu

What do you do when it’s snowing cats and dogs outside and there’s nearly 1,600 horsepower sitting on tap in the driveway? Nothing, that’s what. Unless you want to end up eating your food through a straw or laying face down in a ditch somewhere. It seems rapper Juelz Santana was in general agreement as his flock of snow white rides sat patiently for the storm to pass outside of his Teaneck, NJ recording studio. Recognize the Corvette? He bought it after releasing his first album “From Me to U” – it is featured prominently in the opening scene for the 2006 hit single “There it Go“. Hopefully he laid down some fresh tracks to pay for all the bling.

Bentley Continental GTC – Park Avenue, NYC

Bentley GT drop

We all know that Bentley just pulled the wraps off their latest flagship Mulsanne sedan at Pebble Beach, but this 195 MPH Continental GTC still managed to keep our attention when we spotted it on Park Avenue. The sculpted body, absurdly opulent quarters and abundance of power makes for a compelling balance of grand touring and exotic-car performance.

VW Phaeton – 5th Avenue, NYC

April 30th, 2009 by Stu

vw-phaeton-5th-ave-You’re looking at VW’s ill-fated attempt to compete against arch rivals Mercedes and BMW. Despite the economy car badge sitting prominently on the hood, the full size, hand assembled Phaeton is all luxury and easily crossed the $100,000 barrier when equipped with the optional W12 engine. It even shared a platform and manufacturing site with Bentley’s Continental Flying Spur sedan (VW owns Bentley). Americans were not convinced though and Phaeton was promptly taken off the U.S. market after 2 years of sluggish sales performance.

Bentley Continental GT Speed – East 29th Street

February 9th, 2009 by Stu

continental-gt-speed
For those who need more power, Bentley created the Continental GT Speed, a 600HP grand touring coupe capable of 200 + MPH. This Moroccan Blue example may not reach that speed in second avenue traffic, but it sure looks good standing still. Enthusiasts can tell the GT Speed apart from the “base model” thanks in part to the dark-tinted chrome matrix grille set into the main and lower air intakes. At the rear, the Speed is differentiated with a black lower bumper valance and wider, rifled exhaust tailpipes. Wider 20-inch wheels and bespoke Pirelli PZero tires are also standard on the GT Speed.
