It was only fitting for NYC to serve as the backdrop for Ford’s worldwide 2015 Mustang debut. Well, technically it co-debuted in Detroit and NYC but who’s counting. The original Mustang debuted in 1964 to much fanfare at the World’s Fair in Queens so Ford paid homage to our fair city in unleashing their latest pony car onto the world with the lavish gala you see pictured here. Mustang pool tables, films from the ages featuring Mustangs playing all over flat screens wrapping the room, flowing cocktails and, of course, two brand new 2015 Mustangs in all their glory. The convertible was a 5.0L GT with 420 angry horsepower while the Cherry Red coupe featured the all-new turbo four cylinder mill that will likely take over volume duties from the V6. Don’t scoff at the four…it will pack a 300+ HP punch while simultaneously delivering phenomenal fuel economy. The new Mustang is all-new from the ground up and features an evolved design that’s unmistakeable as anything but a Mustang but with more sophistication and, dare I say, European flair than before. And that’s a pretty good thing because, for the first time, Mustang will be on sale in Europe.
Thanks for invite Ford. It was one hell of a party and one hell of car.
