Jaguar XK120 Roadster – Lee, Mass

August 30th, 2012 by Stu

I will always have a sweet spot for these voluptuous shag demons. XK120 is a member of that rare automotive species capable of conjuring up an emotional response the minute your eyes hit the sheet metal. It’s not a car…it’s an object of beauty. I guess that’s why Ralph Lauren chose to include one in his world class collection,

Thanks for the great snaps Jersey Jay!

Pontiac Firebird Convertible – 7th Avenue, NYC

August 29th, 2012 by Aaron

Spotted this luscious, ultra clean gen 1 (’67 – ’69) Firebird drop top sitting pretty on 7th Avenue South. Assuming the hood ornamentation and functional scoops are of the real deal variety, this baby is sporting the 6.6L monster mill from the GTO with 325 HP and the optional Ram Air induction system (functional hood scoops, higher flow heads with stronger valve springs, and a different camshaft). Obviously this owner enjoys the best in life when it comes to classic vehicles as this is one of the more collectable Firebirds you can get.

This isn’t the first Mach 1 we’ve spotted, but it’s certainly the prettiest.

Homegrown Range Rover Cabrio: La Jolla BLVD – La Jolla, CA

August 27th, 2012 by Stu

This Range Rover Classic’s owner, tired of looking up and not seeing blue skies and California sunshine, did the logical thing and chopped off the roof. The conversion, while not the most elegant or clean execution in the world, seems to get the job done and makes for one of the more unique Range Rovers we’ve ever seen. I did not observe any sort of folding top or folding convertible structure that protects this baby from the elements but that’s form over function for you. No amount of mold, rust or mildew will stop this owner from enjoying sheer top down bliss.

Sunbeam Alpine – Beachwood Canyon, CA

August 22nd, 2012 by Aaron

Spotted in Beachwood Canyon, this Series III [’63 – ’64] Sunbeam Alpine sports a removable hard top. The solid roofline dramatically effects the overall look of this cheeky little roadster. It’s kind of dashing actually. Does the design look familiar? It should…the guy who penned it was stolen away from Ford around the same time Thunderbird hit the market. Throw a port hole in there and it would be hard to tell the two classics apart.

Car Spotting in The South of France

August 16th, 2012 by Stu

Editor’s Note [8/19/12]: We mis-ID’s this luscious prancing horse (above). Our friend Jake set us straight… it’s actually a Gemballa-tuned Enzo, not an FXX. I guess this owner will have to make due with his slightly less advanced million dollar race car. Hey, somebody’s got to do it.

Car spotting at its finest…in the South of France and Monaco. These tasty shots are from the garage of the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat and the equally choice Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo

Above, Ferrari’s absurdly exclusive FXX. An Enzo on Steroids, the FXX was engineered exclusively for the purpose of garnering enthusiast feedback and providing VIPs with access to the brand’s latest racing tech.  Kind of like an R&D think tank for Ferrari’s best customers. If you can believe it, buyers (all 29 of them) fork over $1.8 million to track the car on select days set forth by Ferrari. Data-monitoring and telemetry technology not only allow the driver to improve performance, but also provide Ferrari with actionable data to improve the FXX and future road-going Ferraris. Oh yeah, and it only takes 100 milliseconds to shift

More shockingly exotic vehicles below…Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster, Mercedes SLS AMG, and a charming Morgan 4/4

Thanks for the awesome spots Danny!

Mad Max’s Limousine? West 23rd Street, NYC

August 14th, 2012 by Stu

Every once and a while, we run into a vehicle that defies logic or rationale. This is one of those times. Spotted on West 23rd in front of the Home Depot, this bizarrely customized Town Car limo goes well beyond anything we can comprehend or understand. Perhaps a stunt car survivor or flunky from the set of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome?

You decide.
