MB 300 GD – NW Irving & 14th, Portland [OR]

May 25th, 2012 by Emir

This is the real thing. Not one of those fancy pants G550 or AMG monstrosities. A real German Gelaendewagen, with plaid cloth seats, manual transmission, military roots and a spartan-interior devoid of burl wood adornments or sissy hand massaged cow hides. It’s more Land Rover than Mercedes, a bit beat-up, a little rusty but still rolling strong. This baby appears to have a bunch off-road tours under its beltline judging by the bad ass winch up front and tow hooks in the rear. I remember reading a test of one of these Puchs (that’s how they were sold in Eastern Europe) and one of the requirements the Bundeswehr put before MB was a 20-year expected life span of each unit in military service.
