Most people would walk by this jacked up F-150 and dismiss it as yet another hulking pickup truck hogging precious Manhattan parking spaces. I can’t really argue with the hulking part but, to be clear, this isn’t just any F-150. The Raptor is Ford’s high speed off roader, essentially a detuned version of a Baja 1000 Pre-Runner, developed by the company’s SVT [Special Vehicle Team] performance division. Aside from the 6.2L 411 HP V8 lurking under hood, the Raptor also features uber advanced Fox racing bypass shocks that offer silly levels of suspension travel capable of resisting bottom out in the challenging desert terrain thanks to position-sensitive dampening. If you recall, Man on the Move was invited to Anza Borrego to drive this baby when it first hit the market in 2009. I recall one of the Fox engineers telling me the oil viscosity was akin to what’s used in a fighter jet. Pretty freekin cool.
I wonder how this baby fares against NYC potholes
