Aston Martin Rapide – West 26th Street, NYC

July 8th, 2010 by Ian

We love spotting new product. Especially when it has an Aston Martin badge sitting pretty on the hood. Aston says the Rapide is the most elegant four-door sports car in the world and I’m not inclined to disagree with them. The 4-door super sedan is essentially a DB9 Coupe – V12 and all – that has been stretched to accommodate a set of leather-lined, hand finished rear passenger doors. The transition from coupe to sedan is the epitome of seamless and, from the side, you are hard pressed to even distinguish the lithe Rapide from its two-door DB9 sibling.

The owner must be on somebody’s A-list because the valet outside of the Fashion 26 Wyndham Hotel said the car had just 300 miles on the odo and was one of three to currently exist in the U.S. The license plate surround tells us this baby was purchased in Greenwich, at Miller Motor Cars, which is no shocker considering that the tri state area (NY-NJ-CT) represents the most, if not second or third most, important market area in the country for exotic vehicle manufacturers like Aston.

  • This sedan craze is spreading like wildfire! Different, but still sexy as hell. Nice work guys!

  • I was skeptical of these until I saw one in person at Aston’s reception area during the Amelia Island Concours. It’s surprising how well the rear doors blend and it just appears to be an long-wheel base DB9. They’ve done a much better job at pulling off this rear-hatch-GT-sedan-thing than Porsche or BMW.
