VW is currently running an ad campaign here in the U.S. that builds off of the brand’s long standing punch buggy tradition whereby one persons smacks the other when an original VW Beetle rolls by. All you do is call out the color, “punch buggy turquoise” in this case, and then give your pal/spouse/parent a good shot in the arm. It’s good clean American fun. That arm of yours would be a permanent shade of black and blue if this game were played in Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire located in southeastern Peru. As one travel blogger put it, “Ever wondered why you never see a VW Beetles on the road these days? I can tell you why. Because they’re all in Peru. Every second car here is a Beetle. Pimped out, clapped out, they’re all here. The roads here are terrible, but it seems German automotive enginneering is the always the answer.” And there you have it.
Thanks for the great photos Jeff!
