What did I get for xmas 2009? A few Xbox games, a new lens for my camera and, oh yeah, a massive blizzard that dropped 26 inches on us just before we needed to get into the car for the annual Virginia to North Carolina family holiday trip. The Prius wasn’t exactly cutting the mustard so we rented this fully loaded Chevy Traverse instead. I was quite impressed with how well the XL crossover held up in the snow. Not to mention the smooth ride, acres of interior room and fun toys to play with (XM, DVD player, etc). Inspired by the futuristic Sequel concept that debuted in Detroit in 2005, the Traverse is handsome and certainly more appealing than any minivan currently on sale. But for reasons I cannot quite comprehend, GM felt the need to market Traverse sister vehicles for not one, not two, but three of its brands – GMC (Acadia), Buick (Enclave) and Saturn (Outlook). I’m not sure how saturating the market with nearly identical-looking vehicles bearing different brand names is helping to dig GM out of its current hole but it most definitely obscures vehicle character. More pics after the jump…

Prius – yuck…. Traverse – even “yuckier”
