As if Saab’s classic 900 Aero wasn’t racy enough already. It was after all the first Saab to sport the brand’s 160 hp 16-valve turbo mill. That might not sound like much next to today’s high powered sports cars but it was pretty inspired for the time. The owner, who claims to race this baby, might have gone a little bonkers with the mods – carbon fiber hood, massive rear wing, wrap around body kit and what seems to be some engine tweaks based on the extra breathing vents positioned ahead of the front fender. And considering that only 7,000 Aeros, also known as SPGs (Special Performance Group), were built and imported to North America, it seems almost wasteful to alter it so drastically. But who are we to judge – that’s why they call it personalization.

OK, not my favorite SPG/Aero, to be sure. I prefer the stock look SPG (what mine looks like), as it is a classy (if a little peculiar) hatchback with clean lines provided by the SPG body kit, and those sweet, swoopy 3 spoke wheels.
Still, nice find, nice post.
Get your Saab now … they’re going belly up.
Part of GM streamlining. Too bad
Too much crap on this one but fun(ny) to look at.

That’s a lot of work someone put into a Saab. I guess there are enthusiasts for everything out there.
