1968 Airstream Tradewind – Bowery Street, NYC

December 2nd, 2009 by Ian

Anonymous Gallery will use this ‘68 Airstream as a rolling exhibit, or pop up gallery, at Art Basel 2009 in Miami this week. The annual event, which starts tomorrow, exhibits contemporary artists who have influenced popular culture, graphic design, fashion and the urban environment. Exhibition sites are located in the city’s Art Deco District, so this aluminium skinned camper from another era should fit right in amongst all the cool old buildings. Seen here on Bowery, the artists were rushing to gut and redesign the interior in time for the show.

  • I love this baby. They’re like time capsules.
People should be buried in these things with all their
belongings for future civilizations to discover.

Through in a Muddy Waters album and a team
    photo of the ’56 Yankees.

  • I spotted another Airstream in the Bronx alongside the FDR this morning. Ultimate land yacht.

  • This is fantastic! Can you show us what it looked like inside after set up? Wanna do this next year? We can park it in front of the Jackie Gleason Theater right next to Art Basel… in the Driveway!
