Platinum Motorsports – Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles

November 9th, 2009 by Stu

Platinum Motorsports Challenger

Our buddy Matt spotted a couple of custom creations at Platinum Motorsport on Melrose. The high end tuner shop did a great job with this Hemi Orange Challenger SRT-8. We like the less-is-more aesthetic they achieved by removing or darkening the badges. And the black wheels, tints and fuel cap door lend a menacing effect to the already imposing muscle car stance.  Not like this baby needs it but we’re curious what’s going on under the hood. Check out the tricked out Mercedes CLS after the jump.

We spotted this curvy sports car all covered up on the streets of LA. Any thoughts on the make and model??  Weigh in after the jump…

Ford GT – Staple Street, NYC

FordGT2

Unlike marine biologists studying Great White Shark movement and migration, we at ManOnTheMove cannot tag our vehicle subjects for tracking purposes. And owners of fine rides like this Ford GT thoroughly appreciate that. But this particular piece of American exotica looks familiar, like we have spotted it before. We usually don’t like to snap the same ride twice, but exceptions can be made for something as sexy as this.

Chevrolet Apache 10 Stepside – Elizabeth Street, NYC

November 5th, 2009 by Ian

Apache 2

Yesterday Nick brought you a classic Chevy pickup with West Coast flavor. I respond today with this old workhorse keeping it real on Elizabeth Street in the Lower East Side. She ain’t as pretty as Bill Sack’s denim ’57 3100, but thanks in part to the charmingly crude respray – powder blue with white accents throughout – this baby has certainly aged better than the last Apache we spotted. And we dig the spare integrated into the stepside bed. Viva la vintage truck!

Under the Hood: Bill Sack

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH CRAFT AND WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR IT?

Nobody was doing a workwear presentation properly in my mind.  It was all too costumey.  Pete and I wanted to do a Japanese-Americana workwear aesthetic but make it look real, and wearable.

WHAT’S THE STORY WITH SCORING THE TRUCK? YOU FIND IT IN A BARN? HOLD SOMEONE UP FOR IT?

I acquired the truck from a former employer.  It had been the shop truck for a denim brand, to remain nameless….

IF YOU WEREN’T DRIVING THIS YOU’D BE DRIVING…

I’d love an early 50’s coupe, or an early 60’s Cadillac.

Porsche 356 Speedster – 9th Avenue, NYC

November 3rd, 2009 by Stu

Speedster 1

One of our loyal readers caught this beautiful bathtub posed in front of Pastis in the Meatpacking District. This Speedster is so clean, so perfect in every way, that it seems entirely plausible to think it’s a fugazi. A good looking, high quality fugazi – but a fugazi nonetheless. We could be wrong of course – and a real one of these would fetch quite a bit of coin at the auction block – but it just seems too good to be true.
