Subaru Impreza WRX STI – 74th and Broadway, NYC

September 21st, 2009 by Ian

We spotted this street legal rally racer on the Upper West Side Sunday. The new-for-2008 Impreza body style looks good in STI trim – more upscale than the previous generation model but still sporting that boy racer charm we have grown so fond of. STI, or Subaru Techinca International, is of course Subaru’s motorsports division responsible for World Rally Car preparation and the brand’s line-up of high performance passenger cars.

STI’s bevy of wings, vents, scoops, lips and air dams are not just for show either. The rear wing and front spoiler reduce lift while exhaust vents on the font bumper and quarter panel cool the Brembo brakes and Boxer engine. And let’s not forget the behemoth hood scoop feeding air to the intercooler. With 305 HP and a scintillating 4.8 second sprint to 60 MPH, the STI adds muscle to the prodigious levels of grip provided by Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system. This one looks pretty bold sporting WR Blue Mica paint and gold BBS wheels.

  • thanks for showin love to my baby

  • The Impreza sedan before the end of a side profile Corolla, Corolla one, and the tail of a Kia Rio is absolutely horrible. The rear bumper of STIs is stolen from an M5/M6, but it looks good. I can not imagine how they managed to butcher the style so bad Impreza. At least the fender flares that look less like a Corolla and a Corolla as belonging to a young man of 17 years. I like the look of the sedan, but not really different from above, so there is nothing interesting about the new car.

  • Can we get a convertible body style Subaru Impreza WRX?
