May 31st, 2009 by Ian

obamaThe nation’s first couple painted the town red on Saturday night. Dinner at Blue Hill Restaurant and post meal theatrics on Broadway. We snapped the presidential limousine as it transported the pair up Sixth Avenue, where NYPD had closed down the street for the occasion.

BMW 535i Sports Wagon – 7th Avenue, NYC

May 29th, 2009 by Ian

bmw-535i-sports-wagonSpends his days in a Manhattan boardroom and weekends in Ditch Plains riding the long ones into shore. Not a terrible way to live in our humble opinion. A diverse vehicle for an active lifestyle, the BMW 535i Xdrive Sports Wagon offers all the utility of an estate, the performance of a sports car (twin-turbocharged, 300HP V Inline 6) and AWD capability of an off roader. Those who don’t embrace European wagons need to take notice.

Mini Cooper S Clubman – 71st & Lexington, NYC

May 27th, 2009 by Ian

mini-clubmanClubman is Mini’s mash up of go kart-like performance, cheeky British charm and everyday utility. Seen here at dusk, this turbocharged, “Pepper White” example looks prime for NYC’s famous pothole slalom.

May 26th, 2009 by Stu

cadillac-cts-grand-central-stationThe CTS looks right at home parked alongside slab-sided Lexington Avenue office buildings. This “Crystal Red”, second generation example absolutely reeks of urban sophistication and represents version 2.0 for Cadillac’s edgy Art & Science design language. We waited around for Kate Walsh but she never showed.

1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible – West 22nd Street, NYC

May 22nd, 2009 by Ian

lincoln-continental

The Lincoln used in the opening credits of Entourage is cooler than Vinnie, Eric, Turtle and Drama combined. We’re talking about the iconic 4 door convertible that originated suicide doors here folks. Short of loading a prefabricated home onto the back of a tractor trailer, driving one of these Continentals is the closest a person will ever come to taking the living room for a ride .

Citroen 2CV – St Marks Place, NYC

May 20th, 2009 by Stu

citroen-2cv-resizedCitroen produced nearly 4 million of these ugly ducks over a 42 year sales run. Although the 2CV is one of Citroen’s most iconic vehicles, its utilitarian functionality and Bauhaus-inspired design undermined the advanced-for-the-time engineering and technology.

This Gran Turismo was parked prominently outside the Omni Berkshire Hotel in mid town. The bright yellow display of sexy Italian curves made all the cabbies hot and bothered – the hue is called “Giallo Granturismo” and it’s a $2,900 option.
